About Us

DJ's TaekwonDo Academy opened its doors in 1989 in St Marys under the instruction of Darryl Thomson. Retiring in 1997 with 38 registered black belts under his dojang, Darryl taught some of the best  martial artists in Australia of that time in his St Marys dojang. After outgrowing St Marys, Darryl moved the dojang to a significantly larger premises in South Penrith, building a much larger and elite school in full contact fighting.

Between June 1989 and December 1996, the school won 3,686 trophies in full contact tournaments throughout Australia and overseas. Seven of Darryl's black belts represented Australia in the 1995 World Championships in Warsaw, Poland.

Darryl brings 20 years of experience of martial arts to the St Marys district once again, eager to share his knowledge of martial arts to all he teaches, aged 5 years upwards.

Tae Kwon Do for Schools

Hi There,

 

I would like to introduce you to ‘DJ’s Tae Kwon Do’, a local martial arts academy based in St Marys.

 

Our chief instructor Darryl Thompson has been teaching for over 20 years and loves to share his knowledge with all ages. Currently our youngest student is 6 years of age and our senior student is aged 48.

 

We write to express our interest in demonstrating the benefits of this great sport to your students and their families.

 

Although Tae Kwon Do is a recognised Olympic sport it is not all about fighting, it is quite the opposite.

 

 

·         Tae Kwon Do is a great way to keep fit

·         Make new friends

 

·         Develop co-ordination and concentration

 

·         And it is heaps of fun
